Ginger Turmeric Latte

I am putting turmeric in just about everything these days. Turmeric fights inflammation and increases antioxidant capacity of the body. It is linked to improved brain function and lower risk of brain diseases. I love ginger too. It improves cognitive function, increases blood flow to the brain and modulates blood sugar levels, keeping energy levels up during the day. Pair these two together with your favorite plant milk and you have a delicious and powerful drink. It’s also just as wonderful served cold! If you want it sweeter, add another date!

Ingredients:
For each serving:
1 teaspoon grated fresh turmeric
2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
1 date (more if a sweeter taste is desired)
1 1/2 cups plant milk (if the milk is think and rich like coconut milk, use 1 cup plant milk and 1/2 cup water)
Pinch of Black Pepper (black pepper improves turmeric’s bioavailability)

Directions:
Blend all ingredients together. Heat in a saucepan and pour in a mug for a cozy drink. Or pour over ice on a hot day.

    • Of course we know! But that does not mean one is better than the other or at least we do not know if one is better, or if perhaps they are both good and suit different purposes. When I was being treated for advanced ovarian cancer I took curcumin supplements, 3600mg daily! Eating dishes with fresh turmeric and turmeric spice have been shown to be health promoting.
