Tofu Masala

This is the most delicious way to have tofu!

First make a batch of our Secret Spice Mix. This mix is great on Tofu, but it can also be used on Tempeh or added to soups and sauces.

Preheat oven to 400oF.

Drain tofu container, press out all the extra water in the tofu with clean towels.

Slice tofu to your desired shape and thickness.

Lay the slices on a parchment paper-lined ovenproof sheet pan.

Lightly brush both sides of each tofu slice with an organic high temperature cooking oil. If you prefer to not use oil rub the spice with your fingers into the tofu.

Sprinkle about a 1/4 teaspoon of the spice mix on the tofu slices and completely coat the tofu. You may use the brush you used to oil the tofu slices.

Bake in a hot oven for 20 minutes. Flip the tofu slices; bake an additional ten to 12 minutes or until the tofu is lightly browned and slightly crispy.

  1. This tofu masala is fabulous! I made it yesterday to include in a stir fry. My carnivore in laws visited us for a week. They ate vegan the entire week and were amazed how decilious the food was…..I am a good cook..lol. I believe I may have made an impact on reducing their desire to eat meat….I plan to convert one carnivore at a time. Thank you for all you do in support of animal welfare. I love your blog and All About Food. You have been a support system for the vegan lifestyle.

    • Hi Emilia,

We are thrilled that you tried the tofu masala and that you liked it. Thank you! It’s also great to hear about meat eaters who try and like vegan food. What you are doing is the best form of vegan activism in my opinion, showing meat eaters that vegan food is delicious and that there is no deprivation!

      Regards,
      Caryn
