What Vegans Eat – Day 1026, Travel Edition

Share

Breakfast: We settled into the pool house at Gary’s brother’s in Monte Sereno. We’ve stayed here many times. It feels like home, a tiny home, with everything we need. Gary’s sister-in-law set the place up with fresh flowers and a basket of Oranges and Bananas.

Lunch: We were feeling a bit foggy and had to get ready for a full day with The Music Man cast. We were having orientation and a reading of the show. We want to eat as nutritiously and cleanly as we can. Gary suggested going to Whole Foods. This was smart. Gary bought Rolled Oats from the bulk food bins and got some fruit from the salad bar. I made a G-BOMBS salad, loading up on greens, Arugula, Kale and Red Cabbage and topped it with Garbanzo Beans, Raw Red Onions, Marinated Mushrooms, Blackberries, Pumpkin Seeds, Sunflower Seeds and Olives. I was in heaven. This was almost like eating at home.

Dinner: After our long day at the theater, we were tired and hungry. Vegetarian House was our destination. They were so packed they opened up the extra room that is normally closed. We were so thrilled that they were doing well. It’s wonderful to greet the staff there, they are like old friends. Sunny greeted us with a warm smile. He told us about an upcoming event in January when Will Tuttle will be speaking. I think I am going to go to that. Gary has rehearsal that night, but I don’t. Our waiter came by and knew our order before we said anything.
We vacuumed up the Heavenly Salad as soon as it came.

We also got the Flying Buddha Soup. It was a little different this time with some added tasty, round, chewy things. It’s good to be at our home away from home.
