What Vegans Eat – Day 1056, Travel Edition

Breakfast: We’re off to California today! But before we go, we’re having a good breakfast. Gary bought gluten-free, vegan English Muffins and we’re finishing them up, served with Bananas, Mandarin, Grapefruit, and some Soy

At the airport, I started to take out some necessary fuel for the trip. Dark Chocolate with Espresso Beans! We also had a big bag of Celery and Carrot Sticks to munch on from home.

We went for the hot drinks in the crazy holiday cups from Starbucks. Chai for me, Mint for Gary.

Lunch: Our first flight was from New York to Boston. Once in Boston, I went hunting for food. I already knew where I wanted to go since I checked out the options while flying over. Am I grateful for free WiFi on planes? I don’t know. Without WiFi, it’s a welcome break from the screen. But with it, there is some convenience. I found Currito and was delighted with bowl I ordered with Tofu, Brown Rice, Black Beans, Corn Salsa, and Tomato Salsa. Gary ordered the same, only in a burrito with Guacamole. The food was surprisingly clean, fresh and tasty.

Dinner: There were more food surprises later on our our second flight to California. When I was feeling hungry I opened the JetBlue guide to see what was available. I never buy food on an airplane. Never, until today! We ordered the Amp Up! Snack box which was Kosher, Vegan and Gluten-free. Again, for snacks on an airplane it was these were surprisingly clean.

We also got the Kale and Quinoa Salad. You can get a kale salad on an airplane in 2018! Things are looking up. It came with dried Blueberries and Cranberries and Cherry Tomatoes with a White Balsamic Vinaigrette.
