What Vegans Eat – Day 306: Travel Edition

Breakfast: I got up early to go to San Francisco. I had a quick cup of Rolled Oats, Blueberries and Soy Milk with a cup of English Breakfast Tea.

Lunch: I was visiting an old friend in San Francisco. We grabbed a bite at Pica Pica Arepa Kitchen. We both ordered the Vegetariana with grilled tofu, avocado, plantains and black beans purée.

Dinner: Back in San Jose, Gary and I finally got to our favorite restaurant for the first time this trip – the Vegetarian House. We were hungry and ordered the usual dishes, starting with the Flying Buddha.

And then the Heavenly Salad.

The Spicy Cha Cha came last with Brown Rice and it was a treat.

We were stuffed but we were not done eating. Back at the house where we were staying one Gary’s nephews Kyle had found a giant zucchini still growing in the garden. He decided he wanted to cook it for us, vegan-style. We all had some. It was very good – soft on the inside and crunchy outside in a balsamic secret sauce. Thanks Chef Kyle!

  1. Thanks so much for these daily diaries Caryn! I love seeing everything you post and get so many ideas. The cold oatmeal is one of my favorites — along with my daily green juices. Enjoy California!

    • Hi Sandra, You made my day! Thank you for your comments. I am glad the posts are helpful. California is lovely but so unusually cold. I look forward to warmer weather in New York. It’s bizarre for December. – Caryn
