What Vegans Eat – Day 743: Travel Edition

Share

Breakfast: This morning we had an appointment at Cabrillo College to select costumes to rent for our upcoming Fiddler on the Roof. I was excited because we had a chance to visit the Staff of Life Market beforehand. I ordered a “Hempereur’s New something-or-other” smoothie with Hemp Milk, Almond Butter, Strawberries and Banana. Gary got an Earl Grey tea followed by the Bruce Banner Green Juice. Then we shopped a little in the store and picked up a few varieties of loose leaf tea. I can’t wait to start brewing!

Lunch: Back over the hill from Santa Cruz to San Jose, with no traffic drama (there have been floods and road closings nearby) we went to Veggie Grill for lunch. We opted to avoid downtown San Jose where the Vegetarian House is because of possible wet weather traffic. We both got the Quinoa and Veg Burger, Bad Boy Style; mine with Cole Slaw and Gary’s with Fries.

Snack: Tonya, the cast member who is playing Golde in our Fiddler brought us vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies. We talked about the ingredients. She used Miyoko’s Vegan Cultured Butter. Yes, I wanted to try some of these cookies. I thought I would save them but two hours into the rehearsal, conducting the entire time, I needed energy. The cookies kept me going. Thanks Tonya.

Dinner: With another rehearsal finished Gary had a big bowl of Rolled Oats, Bananas, Raisins and Soy Milk with Mint Tea.

I ate an Orange and made myself a big bowl of salad, with Mesclun Greens, Walnuts, Avocado and Balsamic Vinegar. We both nibbled a a few plain Corn Thins.
