What Vegans Eat – Day 793

Breakfast: I made Raw Oats Cereal with my new favorite cereal topping combination: Cacao Nibs, Raisins, Blueberries, Walnuts and Coconuts. I topped it with Strawberries and Soy Milk and served it with Jasmine Tea.

Tea Break: We were invited by our friend Linda to see a matinee of the one woman show, Not Too Jewish. After sitting in the dark during the early afternoon, we sat outside, with some Starbucks drinks and enjoyed the sun a little bit in a public space by the theater. Gary and I had Chai Tea with Soy Milk.

Dinner: We were going to head home and went downstairs to the 50th Street Subway Station, forgetting that this station does not connect the two directions, uptown and downtown, underground. Almost at the turnstile we realized we were on the wrong side and had to exit and cross the street to the other subway entrance. Back up and outside, we decided to stay and walk a little, get some exercise. The weather has been so nice. We conveniently walked about 40 blocks uptown, on Broadway and landed in front of Candle Café West. Of course we went in for dinner. We started with drinks. Green drinks!

It’s my birthday month and the party continues. Gary ordered the Nachos for an appetizer.

It’s the Jewish holiday of Passover this week. In honor of this week, I went for the Matzoh Ball soup. It came with two small pieces of Matzoh. That’s enough for me for the year!

It’s burger time again for Gary, served with tempeh bacon, sautéed mushrooms, lettuce, onions, tomato, tapioca cheese, housemade pickles,
and cornmeal crusted zucchini. The zucchini fries were terrific.

And inside of the burger buns, he had it all.

I chose something different, the Indian Curry Vegetable Cake. I used to eat a lot of Indian food but I find it too oily and salty these days. I knew Candle would make it up just right. It was served with sautéed greens, caramelized onions, string beans, broccoli, red pepper-coconut curry sauce, lemon-date chutney and sliced almonds

Evening: It’s been a long day. Bananas are a great sweet treat to help you relax and sleep at night because they have natural melatonin. They are especially decadent dipped in Almond Butter and Coconut, served with Vanilla Almond Rooibos Tea.
