Breakfast: How can I miss you if you don’t go away? It’s a fun song by Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks. I can’t help but think about it, being back at home again after our recent trip. I’ve missed my kitchen. How can I miss it if I don’t leave it once in a while. I appreciate the simplest of things so much more. Like this breakfast of Rolled Oats, Blueberries, Coconut, Bananas, Apples, Soy Milk, a dollop of Almond Yogurt and soaked Chia Seeds, served with Cold-Brewed Bai Mu Dan White Tea. We had frozen the Almond Yogurt before we left and I am happy to report that upon defrosting it and giving it a good stir, it’s fine.

Dinner: The day went by filled with our regular activities including our long walk around Forest Hills and the beautiful Forest Hills Gardens. When we got home, we decided to stay in our walking clothes and walk in the opposite direction to Rego Park, for dinner at Green Zenphony. I ordered the Red Cabbage and Lemon Juice (always asking for no added sugar and acknowledging that I know it will be tart!) and Gary got the Veggie Ribs.

We’re eating lighter lately. Gary wanted a simple plate of Broccoli and he got just what he asked for, with Brown Rice.

My choice was the Eggplant in Black Bean Sauce. We both marveled at the lovely colors.

We never get dessert and they typically bring us sliced oranges. Today they brought us a small plate of Watermelon. It was perfect. A few bites of sweetness is all we need at the end of a satisfying meal.

Evening: On the way home we stopped by a local market and bought a Pineapple and a Cantaloupe. We cut up the Cantaloupe and devoured it. It’s summertime and I crave juicy fruits to stay hydrated.

Then Gary presented this Vitamix Carafe to me filled with Blueberries, Strawberries and Kale. “Would you like a smoothie,” he asked? Sure!

We got them. We did not have our vitamins in the morning and Gary added them in the smoothie too.
