REAL attended the 10th Annual Shindig at the Catskill Animal Sanctuary in upstate New York. We spoke with Kathy Stevens, a former educator, who founded the Catskill Animal Sanctuary, one of the country's leading havens for farm animals and a center for raising public awareness of their sentience and their suffering. You can get close to the animals here and witness first-hand their emotions, personalities and love. People of all ages learn here that animals normally thought of as food, are so much more and deserve to be protected not exploited.
We also spoke with Zoe Weil, the co-founder and president of the Institute For Humane Education who succinctly describes what is possible when children are empowered to solve today's world problems.
