I am excited about my next interview on It's All About Food this Tuesday, September 19 at 4pm ET, 1pm PT on the Progressive Radio Network. I'll be speaking with Eric Toensmeier, the award-winning author of Paradise Lot and Perennial Vegetables, and the co-author of Edible Forest Gardens. He is an appointed lecturer at Yale University and a Senior Biosequestration Fellow with Project Drawdown. We'll be talking about the new New York Times bestseller, Drawdown and discussing some of the 80 most substantive solutions to global warming. Don't miss this next show.

Some folks are highly susceptible to the addictive properties of food. I learned a lot about this when I interviewed Dr. Susan Peirce Thompson on It's All About Food. For those who have tried many diets and failed, and are really ready to do what is necessary to change and create healthy eating habits, Dr. Thompson has designed a program that will absolutely get you there. Dr. Thompson has also created a simple 5 question quiz that will help you discover how susceptible you may be to the addictive properties of refined foods. Research shows that one-third of people are highly susceptible. Take this short quiz and find out if you are one of them. Based on your unique answers, you will receive a personalized video from Dr. Susan Peirce Thompson explaining how your brain responds to addictive food.

At Responsible Eating And Living we promote a vegan diet, rich in whole, minimally processed plant foods. For many people, eating this way is satisfying and their ideal weight is maintained easily. Gary and I love eating this way and we do not have to think about counting calories or watching portion sizes. I wish it was this easy for everyone, but it is not.

I was honored to be one of the first to interview Dean Sherzai, M.D., PhD. and Ayesha Sherzai, M.D. and discuss their groundbreaking new book The Alzheimer's Solution. Listen to the interview and learn about this book, a first, offering a SOLUTION to Alzheimer's. It is essential reading for everyone! The authors are leaders in the field of Alzheimer's and cognitive health and co-directors of the Alzheimer's Prevention Program at Loma Linda University Health (Loma Linda, CA is America's only Blue Zone).

One tip from The Alzheimer's Solution is to take a high-quality algal supplement that contains both DHA and EPA. Here at REAL we like Dr. Fuhrman's DHA+EPA Purity. I wrote an article about why I like it. And there's good news! This product is on sale until September 20.

Wildman Steve Brill was back on this show after seven years, this time with Violet, a 13-year-old naturalist and Steve's delightful daughter. The two of them share stories and humor about foraging in urban environments and share lots of useful tips.

Celine Ikeler discusses what led her to develop her business, Karma Baker, providing organic plant-based and gluten free extraordinary baked goods for everyone. I used her vanilla cake recipe (with some slight modifications) for the Raspberry Vanilla Cake shown below.

Listen to this program with Wildman Steve Brill, his daughter Violet and the Karma Baker, Celine Ikeler.

Helen Rosenthal is the Council Member for District 6 in Manhattan. Gary and I attended an event for her upcoming re-election campaign and she told us all that she recently became vegan. This is great news! We need more plant-powered people in politics. I invited her on the show to talk about her transformation and to hear what she is working on regarding food issues.

Ghanim Al-Sulaiti spoke to me from Qatar. He is a vegan entrepreneur who created Qatar's first vegan cafe, Evergreen Organics. He's the Co-Founder in Cambodia of the first vegan cafe VIBE, the Founder of Botany, a vegan ethical skin care line, and founder of the Good Vibe Foundation which aims to feed 10,000 school children healthy vegan food in Cambodia.

We are getting ready for cooler weather with two great soups made with Mung beans. Mung beans cook up fast and don't require soaking. Try them both!

I recently made this Raspberry Vanilla Cake for my mom's 84th birthday. The cake is modified from Celine Ikeler's recipe. It's not only vegan but gluten-free too. The Swiss Buttercream recipe is from Aquafaba by Zsu Dever.
