Grilled onions are a tasty addition to so many dishes. You can prepared these onions in advance and refrigerate them until ready to use. We love grilled onions on our Chickpea Flatbread.
1 onion, red, yellow or white
about 1/4 cup vegetable broth or water
Peel and thinly slice the onion as you would if you were making onion rings; about a quarter inch thick.
Heat a sauté pan on medium-high heat. Add the onions and toss around in the pan. If the onions start to stick, add a few tablespoons of vegetable broth or water. Stir occasionally, on medium heat until onions are soft and begin to brown. Remove from heat. Use immediately or store in a covered container in the refrigerator.
