What Vegans Eat – Day 734: Travel Edition

Share

We were invited to lunch and a tour at Google today by my friend (since junior high school) Susan and her husband Demyn who works there. We rose late, happily caught up on our sleep and headed North to the Mountain View campus.

Lunch: We began at the KitchenSync for lunch. This is one of many cafeterias at Google and it is stunning, loaded up with freshly prepared food by a very friendly wait staff.

There are always vegan dishes. We all got the same two plates. One was Hummus and Taboulé with Jicama and Celery.

The other was a wonderful salad with mixed greens, radicchio, pears, raisins, beets, so good! We drank Spa Water, a mixed of water with Cucumber, Lime and Mint.

Daily Green Juice: After lunch we continued being tourists at Google, riding on Google bikes around the campus, taking in this seemingy whimsical work atmosphere with wide eyes. Later on we hit Whole Foods in Los Gatos. They no longer make fresh juices (which we unhappily discovered last year) but I was in the mood for a smoothie and built my own. Gary went for a tea.

My smoothie had Kale, Blueberries, Banana, Almond Milk and Almond Butter. Mm, tastes like I make at home.

Dinner: We picked up a Bean Burrito for me and a Grilled Tofu Ban Mi sandwich for Gary and had a picnic at the Rose Garden before going to my evening band rehearsal for Fiddler.

Evening: After another long day I enjoyed a couple of Sjaak’s chocolates, from the box Gary bought a few days before.
