Radiant Health Green Power Smoothie

I created this Radiant Health Green Power Smoothie for the 2016 Food Revolution Summit. It includes berries, leafy greens and green tea, all the foods Dr. Greger shared with us during the summit that boost our immune system and may slow aging. I’ve added a little turmeric powder to the mix because of its anti-inflammatory effects and a little pinch of black pepper to increase its bioavailability.

I love it! Remember, smoothies are meant to be sipped, not guzzled. Savor each sip in your mouth so that the digestive juices there can get to work. Cheers! Here’s to your Radiant Health.

Ingredients
2 packed cups of kale or other green leafy vegetable (collards, spinach)
1 cup of unsweetened nondairy milk
1 cup green tea
1 cup of blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1 cup of strawberries (fresh or frozen)
1 banana, peeled
1 orange, peeled and sectioned
2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
2 Tablespoons of ground flax seeds or chia seeds
3/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Optional: 10-12 ice cubes

Directions
In a high-powered blender, process the kale with the nondairy milk. Add in the green tea, the fruit, cocoa powder, flax seeds and spices. If a thinner consistency is desired add in water or more nondairy milk. For a cold, frosty shake add ice cubes. Pour into 2 glasses and serve immediately.
