What Vegans Eat – Day 1061, Travel Edition

Share

Breakfast: We did not eat a lot yesterday and we were both really hungry when we got up. We had our bowls of Rolled Oats, Pears, Blueberries and Soy Milk. That was a good beginning.

Lunch: Gary’s niece gave us a gift card to True Food Kitchen. We had never been there and decided to check out the one in Palo Alto at the Stanford Mall. There was a long wait for a table.

Once seated we read about the place, co-founded by Dr. Andrew Weil. I loved being surround by fresh fruits and vegetables.

We started with Green Juices. My only complaint was that they were served over ice. I have never seen that before and on a cold day, it didn’t seem like a good idea. I sipped it slowly to not get chilled.

We shared the Charred Cauliflower with Harissa Tahini, Medjool Dates, Dill, Mint, and Pistachio. It was spectacular.

I ordered the Ancient Grains with Miso-Glazed Sweet Potato, Turmeric, Charred Onion, Snow Pea, Grilled Portobello, Avocado, Hemp Seed.

The T.L.T. with Smoked Tempeh, Butter Lettuce, Tomato, Avocado, Vegan Mayonnaise had Gary’s name all over it. We’ll be coming back to the True Food Kitchen soon.

Dinner: Later in the evening we each made our own bowls. I made a Salad with Mixed Greens, Walnuts, Cherry Tomatoes and Strawberries.

Gary had the deluxe bowl of Rolled Oats, Pears, Walnuts, Strawberries, Raisins and Soy Milk.
