What Vegans Eat – Day 1196, Travel Edition

Breakfast: I thought I had been smart packing Steel Cut Oats, Raisins and Dried Apricots to make breakfast in the morning. When I got up this morning, I realized there was no stove in our condo kitchen, only a microwave and a toaster oven. I would have to get creative. I put a serving each of dried steel cut oats into two mugs and added water, Raisins, chopped Apricots and Bananas. Slowly I heated them in the microwave, carefully making sure the contents wouldn’t overflow. I figured out how to adjust the power to cook on medium low. It took a while but I succeeded. We had a nice breakfast with tea.

Lunch: One of our destinations on our long walk around old Quebec was Les gourmandises LOUCAS, a vegan, organic, no waste restaurant. We thought we’d stay for hours and try everything. I had the Tempeh Burger.

Deo had the Lasagna with Brown Rice Noodles.

I ordered some Assam Tea with Almond Milk. I loved the tea press it was served with.

We shared the Tarte Tatin. I believe it had a Rice Flour crust, I know the taste and texture.

Dinner: We took a break at the condo and then set out again for dinner. I was a bad navigator and walked us for a while in the wrong direction looking for a Crêperie that served Buckwheat Crepes that were not made with eggs or milk. Too tired to look further we stopped at another crêperie and were happy to discover the buckwheat crepes at this restaurant were also clean, made without eggs or dairy. We each got a glass of Pinot Noir, a small Salad and a Crepe with Grilled Veggies.

Stilled hungry, since the crêpes were small, we shared another Buckwheat Crêpe for dessert with Strawberries and Maple Syrup.
