What Vegans Eat – Day 1203

Breakfast: It’s Gary’s birthday! We have a fun day planned. It began with a new waffle recipe I just created, Steel Cut Oats and Millet Waffles. I took out frozen Blueberries, Raspberries, Cherries and Strawberries and let them defrost while I made the waffles.

Gary’s birthday waffle had smashed Bananas, Apricot Butter and was topped with a Cherry.

We walked all over Manhattan, starting at B&H Photo Video in Midtown for a birthday purchase. We walked towards the East Village stopping at Aveda and Whole Foods, looking for items we did not find.

We caught the new film, The Seagull at Village East Cinemas. It is based on the play of the same name by Anton Chekhov. Gary’s a big Chekhov fan, so it was the perfect thing to do on his birthday. We enjoyed it a lot!

Dinner: For dinner we stopped at Caravan of Dreams where we got to see the owner, Angel. I hugged him three times! It was so good to see him. This restaurant has been around for 27 years and I have never been disappointed. Gary chose the Paiella and loved it.

There were so many choices, it was hard to choose. But I did. I got the Raw Nori Rolls filled with a Walnut Paté and fresh, crunchy veggies. Both of our meals came with yummy side salads.

Evening: After dinner we went in search for vegan treats, something to put a birthday candle in. We had always wanted to go to Dun-Well Doughnuts and they were close by.

We bought a 1/2 dozen and were gifted an extra one for Gary’s birthday. We brought them home and invited the neighbors.

Happy Birthday Gary!!
