What Vegans Eat – Day 1254, Travel Edition – Bay Area, CA

Lunch: Gary made Steel Cut Oats with Raisins, Apples and Bananas in the morning before we left for rehearsal. We had cooked Sweet Potatoes the night before and Gary saved the Sweet Potato Water to cook the Oats in. It made it sweet. Plus all the vitamins that were cooked out of the potatoes were in that water! Since we ate late last night we weren’t hungry in the morning. He wrapped the pot up in a towel and brought it along to rehearsal. After the morning session, we enjoyed those Oats while preparing for the afternoon.

Dinner: After the day with the teens before our adult evening rehearsal we took a spin over to Veggie Grill at Santana Row. We passed by Ike’s Love and Sandwiches stopped in and looked at the menu. We talked to a few employees about their vegan sandwich options before we decided it was best to head over to Veggie Grill. Ike’s ingredients seemed too industrial for us, with lots of plant meats, and it wasn’t clear if some items were truly vegan. Still we are glad they have vegan items. At the Veggie Grill I treated myself to the Crab Cake.

Gary tried the B-Wing Salad. The last time he had it the greens were tired. This time it came without avocado. When I asked why it took some investigating. Apparently the avocados they had were too hard to cut open so they served it without, but they didn’t tell us! Veggie Grill is going downhill. What’s the world coming to?

Evening: After our evening rehearsal I finished up the last of the cooked Lentils I had made a week ago and ate it with a Tangelo.
