First Meal: Polenta, to me, is that “other” hot cereal. Oatmeal is the hot cereal. And it’s not that I like one more than the other. I love them both. Maybe I like polenta even more. It just seems like a treat when I make it. Today it was served with Apricot Butter, Pumpkin Seeds, Blueberries, Strawberries, Raisins with Bai Mu Dan tea.
Snack: We are in Manhattan today. My friend Linda has been struggling for weeks with email problems. I tried to talk her through some fixes over the phone a few days ago but she was still having problems. Gary and I had some shopping to do so I agreed to visit with her briefly while in her neighborhood. Success! Once that was done Gary and I went on with our day. We stopped at a Juice Generation for Greens. Gary had a Green Juice and I chose a Green Smoothie.
Second Meal: I also had my radio show today and went into the studio to record. I was interviewing Gesshin Claire Greenwood about her new book Just Enough: Vegan Recipes and Stories from Japan’s Buddhist Temples. It put me in the mood for Japanese food so Gary met me after the show and we walked over to Beyond Sushi on 37th Street. I was really looking forward to my favorite Chili Mushroom Noodle Soup. Beware of expectations!!! They had changed the menu at this location and the soup was not there. I felt like a stubborn spoiled child disappointed for not getting what I wanted in the moment. We didn’t fare badly, choosing three different Maki rolls.
They are always stunning to look at and full of flavor.
Snack: Later on, back at home we talked over a bowl of Popcorn.
Third Meal: Still disappointed about missing my soup I was not satisfied. I craved something more. I got motivated and made Garbanzo Bean Flour “omelets” with Bell Peppers and Scallions inside.
