Breakfast: With refrigerators loaded with party leftovers I chose a hefty breakfast of the Rainbow dish from the Vegetarian House, layers of seasoned bean curd skin wrapped in seawood, a sweet and sour sauce made with peppers and mushrooms.
Gary went the traditional route, Rolled Oats with Strawberries, Blueberries and Bananas.
Snack: We took a long walk over to Lexington Reservoir County Park. When we got back into town we headed over to Starbucks. We still haven’t finished using up the Starbucks cards we got at Christmas from Gary’s cousin Nancy! I was so thirsty – I went for the Iced Peach Green Tea Lemonade. I asked for no added sugar, thinking that would make it a good choice. I enjoyed it and felt refreshed. In hindsight, checking the ingredients, it was perhaps not the best choice! This drink normally contains: Ice, Lemonade Base [Water, Lemon Juice, Sugar, Lemon Oil], Brewed Green Tea [An Infusion Of (Water, A Blend Of Green Teas, Spearmint, Lemon Verbena, Lemongrass, Natural Flavour)], Peach Syrup [Sugar, Water, Peach Juice Concentrate, Ginger Juice, Apple Juice Concentrate, Natural Flavor, Potassium Citrate, Potassium Sorbate]. It tasted sweet but not overly sweet. Since I asked for no sugar, I don’t know what they left out since the lemonade and the syrup contain sugar. And why are the potassium citrate and potassium sorbate necessary? UGH! Gary’s choice of simple Earl Grey Tea with Soy Milk made more sense.
Lunch: Back at the guest house Gary made a wilted Kale Salad with Avocado, Baked Tofu and Tomatoes. I reheated the remainder of the Brown Rice and Flying Buddha Soup from Vegetarian House. And Gary’s nephew Zach made us smoothies with Berries, Grapes and some of the leftover Kale, Mango Salad. They were good. Thanks Zach!
Dinner: We joined Gary’s brother’s family at the Wine Cellar in Los Gatos. They made Gary and me lovely vegetable plates with Broccoli, Pea Pods, Green Beans and Carrots.
Evening: We happily finished up Gary’s birthday cake. When we got back to our guest house we settled in to watch the Minions and drank Rooibos Chai tea. The tea was great. The movie wasn’t great.
