Breakfast: I made DONUTS! When I interviewed Del Sroufe on Tuesday and talked about The China Study Family Cookbook I knew I wanted to make his doughnut recipe for Gary’s birthday weekend. And I did. And they are fantastic. No guilt here. This recipe, like all the recipes in the cookbook are made with REAL food, no oil or sugar.
Daily Green Juice: Kale, Collards, Celery, Carrots, Lemon.
Dinner: We had a fine day, just soaking in that festive birthday feeling. The donuts kept us satisfied all day long. Finally later in the evening we walked over to Green Zenphony for dinner. I ordered my new favorite – the Sizzling Wonder, roasted soy fish filets over a bed of fresh mushrooms, tomatoes, snow peas, broccoli and bean sprouts in the chef’s special sauce.
Gary went with an old favorite, the Veggie Roast Pork Noodle Soup.
And he got the Veggie Ribs too.
Yes, yes, we got the Chinese Broccoli. It’s always so good.
We are always greeted warmly by the owner, Wendy. I told her when we came in that it was Gary’s birthday. She treated him to Mango Pudding. It’s a refreshing, sweet, light dessert.
Evening: We came home and enjoy a little OKO Pinot Grigio. It’s light, lovely, vegan and organic. Happy Birthday, Gary!
