Breakfast: We have one day left here in sunny California. We leave tomorrow night. Today is about eating what’s remaining so not to waste anything before we leave. The day began with Sliced Oranges from cousin Nancy’s tree. They are delicious!
We finished up our precooked Whole Grain mix: Millet, Black Rice, Red Rice and Farro, topped with Strawberries, Blueberries, Pecans, Blueberries, Walnuts, Raisins and Flaxseeds.
Tea Break: We took a long walk from where we are staying in the Rose Garden to Japantown where the Obon festival was taking place. It took about an hour and felt great. We met cousin Nancy and her husband Wade, and their friends Bruce, Rose and Andy at Roy’s Station. We were greeted by the owner Carol. She is always so friendly and welcoming. Her father Roy was there too, moving slowly, but always with a smile and a razor-sharp wit. I ordered the Maté Chino, only iced and Gary got the Iced Hibiscus with Fruits. I forgot to ask for Soy Milk instead of Dairy Milk, but the servers are so on top of things, I was asked what kind I would like.
Lunch: We walked back home and were ready for a super giant Salad when we got back. It was made with Romaine, Red Cabbage, Tomatoes, Corn and the fantastic Cashew Caesar Dressing Gary made a couple of days ago.
Dinner: Simple leftovers for dinner: Field Roast Frankfurters, Roasted New Potatoes and Meatloaf with Spicy Marinara.
