Breakfast: Gary got up early to go to a rehearsal. He had some Oatmeal and was off. I made myself a fresh Sludgie, with Kale Stems, Celery, Carrots, Peanut Butter, Cacao Nibs, Apple, Banana, Flax Seeds and Water. Afterwards I had a few slices of Melon.
Lunch: We had plans to go to a party later that evening. What do we do when we know we are going to a non vegan event? We eat a big meal before we leave! Gary got home from rehearsal and put together this feast. He cooked Potatoes and Cabbage in a beer broth with Dill and Caraway Seeds. We added our own toppings including Olives, Almond Yogurt, Florida Avocado in Lime Juice and Shiitake Mushrooms for me. It was so good, I can’t wait for leftovers!
Dinner: My parents came to our apartment and we drove to White Plains for the big event at Brother Jimmy’s Barbecue. My friend Elyse’s daughter Lexi was having an engagement party. I’ve known Elyse since I was four years old. We grew up as next door neighbors. Her family is like family – cousins, aunts and uncles. There were a lot of laughs and tears of joy. The service was outstanding and the food was good! I had the salad which had Apples, Pecans and Wild Rice along with the Greens.
They made me a special basket of Green Beans that were steamed without butter.
The party was a lot of fun. There was a game card that was to be used as an ice breaker and help people get to know each other. You had to find the people that fit specific descriptions. One of the descriptions was – “is a vegan, but came anyway!” Guess who that person was?
