What Vegans Eat – Day 1229, Travel Edition – Bay Area, CA

Breakfast: We didn’t eat a lot yesterday and didn’t seem to need to. But today, we needed big food. We began with Rolled Oats with Raisins, Walnuts, Bananas and Soy Milk. It’s quick and good.

Tea Break: It was time to hit all the favorite hot spots. We had tea at Roy’s Station. I get the Maté Chino with Soy Milk.

Lunch: With a four-hour rehearsal ahead we spun over to Whole Foods for Green Juices and Salad. I made a clean one with Kale, Arugula, Red Onion, Tomates, Garbanazo Beans, Green Peas and Balsamic Vinegar. I stay away from the prepared foods that have salt, oil and other unwanted ingredients. This is the kind of salad I make at home.

Dinner: HUNGRY! So hungry. I worked hard teaching the Into the Woods music at rehearsal. Next stop was the Vegetarian House. They have a new, revised menu. We shared the Heavenly Salad.

I tried a dish with Lion’s Main Mushroom. WOW! This is amazing. And Lion’s Mane Mushrooms are so good for you. Gary, who doesn’t like mushrooms even liked it.

Gary ordered his favorite, Queens Joy.

Julie, one of the staff at Vegetarian House told us we had to try one of the new desserts. We don’t normally get dessert there or anywhere but I obeyed. It was rich. A few bites for each of us was enough. The rest will be for another day.

Evening: I am always a little thirsty after eating in restaurants, because of the salt. Watermelon quenched my thirst.
