What Vegans Eat – Day 1238, Travel Edition – Bay Area, CA

Breakfast: It’s a special day. We are not having Rolled Oats for breakfast, we are having Steel Cut Outs! I cooked them with Pears, Bananas and Raisins. The pears made it special.

Lunch: We have the week off from rehearsals. Gary and I drove over the hill to Santa Cruz and took a long walk on the beach. Afterwards we went over to the Staff of Life, our preferred grocery store in the Bay Area. We did a little shopping and then had Green Smoothies. We were going to order Green Juices but the juicer was down. The smoothie was an excellent choice.

Dinner: We were invited to dinner at our friends’ home, John and Deo. We began with a celebratory salad, so colorful! The Blueberries made it extra colorful. Deo doesn’t like the bitter Radicchio so that was served on the side.

Deo made us an African Stew. It was her own recipe and she wanted to try Purple Sweet Potatoes in it. Purple Sweet Potatoes are often dry and she thought they would work well with the Tomatoes and Peanuts in this dish. She was right. It’s a good one.

For dessert we had fresh Cherries and two kinds of Dark Chocolate. One had mint which I love.

Evening: I finished up the last of Gary’s Cauliflower Dish along with Brown Rice and Tahini Balsamic Dressing.
