What Vegans Eat – Day 1244, Travel Edition – Bay Area, CA


Today is the last day before we start our intensive rehearsal period. We’ll be working Monday through Friday from 9:30am-4:30pm with the teen cast followed by 6:30pm to 10pm with the adult cast.
Lunch: Breakfast came late at 1pm, Rolled Oats with Apples, Raisins, Cacao Nibs, Pumpkin Seeds and Soy Milk.

After doing some shopping to get some items for the kitchen our rental unit did not have along with food to prepare in advance for the week, we stopped at the Veggie Grill for dinner. We both were in a burger mood.
Dinner: I had the Quinoa + Veg Burger with the House-made Blend of Organic Quinoa + Kale + Mushrooms, ‘Cheese’, House-pickled Onions, Arugula, Veg Mayo, drizzled Cilantro Pesto, Brioche Bun.

Gary chose the Burger by Beyond Meat, American “Cheese”, Grilled Onions, House-made Sauce, Tomato, Iceberg Lettuce, Sesame Buns + Crispy Fries.

We figured a couple of things out about Veggie Grill. The meals are never very filling and they are better at making burgers than salads. We went around the corner to the Pressed Juicery for dessert. I got two flavors, Chocolate and Coconut and Gary had the Vanilla Freeze. If you haven’t tried the Freeze you must! It’s a delicious, sweet treat made from healthy, whole plant foods.
