What Vegans Eat – Day 1291

Share

Breakfast: We’re taking a day off to play tourists in our home town. I love when we do this. To get started, Gary treated me to a bowl of Rolled Oats topped with Apples, Almonds, Sunflower Seeds, Raisins, Flax Seeds and Soy Milk.

Lunch: We started at the bottom of Manhattan at the South Street Seaport to pick up theater tickets for the evening. We’re seeing The Band’s Visit! Then we walked from Manhattan across the Brooklyn Bridge and back. We stopped at Buddha Bodai Kosher Vegan on Mulberry Street for a late lunch. What a treat it was. We haven’t been there in a while. I love the Dim Sum, it’s fun! I began with my favorite Mushroom Congee with Ginger.

I love these Steamed Watercress Dumplings and the Steamed Cantonese Dumplings with Peanut.

I was so excited when I saw the Pan-Fried Turnip Cake on the Dim Sum menu. I had forgotten about how good these are, and they were. I am going to make my own version at home soon.

These are called Veg Ribs with Salt and Pepper. They were tasty bites. We had no idea what we were eating!

And here is the BBQ Veggie Meat.

We splurged with a Tofu Cheesecake.

Afterwards we walked past the Van Leeuwen Ice Cream Store. My colors matched the store decor! Unfortunately we were too stuffed to go in an order anything but I am glad they have vegan ice cream.

Dinner Drinks: We walked all the way to Times Square, stopping in a few stores along the way. Before the show we went to P.S. Kitchen for drinks.

Evening: The Band’s Visit was spectacular. We were delighted from the moment it started, great story, wonderful acting, sets, costumes and music. We had fantastic seats up close in the orchestra. I think that made it even better because this is an intimate show. When we got home, I had a small bowl of cooked Red Lentils.
