What Vegans Eat – Day 1325

Share

Breakfast: We were given a day off from jury duty today. I don’t know why we don’t have to go in today, but I am grateful. Last night we stayed up until 3am finishing a grant that had a 9/30 deadline. It had to be done. Today I rested and listened to the Ford/Kavanaugh hearing. I made myself a pot of Jasmine Tea and tuned into the hearing.

Lunch: I am a wreck! This hearing hit so many triggers, memories of things that should never have happened. I saw Dr. Ford’s watery eyes and felt like they were my own. I felt a connection to the hundreds of thousands hearing her testimony and remembering their own experiences with assault and abuse. Gary was there for me, and made me a comforting bowl of Rolled Oats, Blueberries, Flax Seeds, Apple and Bananas, topped with Soy Milk.

Green Juice: In our neighborhood, we have “street cleaning” on Thursdays and Fridays. I put it in quotes because it’s a joke. The street cleaning truck rips through so fast, nothing is cleaned. But we can’t park on the street from 11:30am-1pm on the sides designated for street cleaning on Thursday or Friday. I had moved the car earlier but squeezed into a spot with the back tire on the curb. I was listening to the Kavanaugh hearing on the terrace watching below, waiting for when the van parked behind my car would move. I drank a Green Juice, with Kale, Collards, Celery, Carrots, Lemon and Ginger. When I saw the van lights go on I ran downstairs and moved my car off the curb. I ran back up to listen to the rest of the testimony. It was sickening to me. During Kavanaugh’s emotional opening, I thought perhaps he really believed he wasn’t at the party where Ford claimed he assaulted her. But when the questioning began, he was so unhinged and vague with his answers, talking about how much he loved beer. Whether or not Dr. Ford was telling the truth, I couldn’t understand why anyone would want Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court!

Dinner: Gary was a gem. He knew how upset I was and treated me to a delicious, comforting meal. We started with a big Romaine Lettuce Salad with Tahini Dressing.

The main course consisted of Mashed Potatoes topped with a Red Lentil Gravy, Green Peas and Purple and White Cauliflower and Baked Tofu. Not only was it delicious, it was filled with love.
