Breakfast: It’s the day before my big concert. I am focusing on doing a lot of nothing, just going through song lyrics in my mind. When I wake up in the middle of the night the concert music is always there. My subconscious and conscious are rehearsing while I sleep and when I am awake. Gary is taking care of me. He made breakfast – Rolled Oats, Soy Milk, Apples and Walnuts. We sit at his dad’s kitchen table which has all of his medications out for display. I am drinking my new herb blend that I brought with me from New York with Summer Savory, Marjoram, Basil, Anise, Turmeric and Black Pepper. I find it hydrating and it feels restorative.
We head over to Gary’s sister’s home which is close to the theater where I will be singing tomorrow. We have rehearsal there this afternoon. I made plans to meet with my friend Ann for a walk in the Rose Garden. She’s never been there. We took time to smell the roses, literally. Then we went over to Whole Foods for some Salad from the salad bar. Mine had Kale, Arugula, Corn, Peas, Red Onions, Sunflower Seeds and Balsamic Vinegar. But I saved my appetite for Gary’s food. When I got back to his sister’s house we had Purple Potatoes and Baked Tofu.
Dinner: Rehearsal was great and exhausting. It’s a 2-hour physical workout. I couldn’t wait to eat. I began with an Apple.
A big green Salad with Tahini Dressing and Garbanzo Beans was what we both wanted for dinner. Beans and greens. I am trying to stay away from salt which can be hard when traveling and eating in restaurants.
