What Vegans Eat – Day 1464

Share

First Meal: We had no idea this would be the day. Gary’s 93-year-old-dad had had a difficult night, moaning and groaning throughout most of it. His evening caretaker was in need of help and called the women who managed him during the day. She knew he was going fast. Gary’s dad didn’t want to go to the hospital but he needed help so we called an ambulance. We followed along in the car. I grabbed a couple of organic Bananas and organic Apples for some energy not knowing how long we would be there.

Once at the hospital Gary’s dad was gone in a few hours. We stood by him when he took his last few breaths. It was sad. At the same time I was feeling the magical, incomprehensible aspects of life, from beginning to end.

Second Meal: Not knowing where to go or what to do, we were near the Westfield Valley Fair Mall. There’s a Loving Hut there and we were in need of some loving! We ordered some vegan Pho and Summer Rolls. Our friends Brennan and Jacqui were eating in the same food court with their boys. It was a good time to get some hugs.

Third Meal: Gary had a meeting and rehearsal to go to this evening. He thought he would just stop by but he ended up staying on. I stayed at his dad’s house and did some work. His dad’s caregivers came by and we laughed a little, sharing stories about Gary’s dad. Gary and I settled in for the night and enjoyed a little comfort food, Rice Cakes with Peanut Butter, Bananas, and Apricot Butter.
