What Vegans Eat – Day 1527

Share

First Meal: The theater continues with a matinee today of a new play called Life Sucks at a theater in the East Village. We filled our bellies with organic Polenta Cereal with organic Raisins and organic Apples along with slices of fresh organic Oranges.

Second Meal: Gary’s acting teacher, Austin Pendleton, was in the play and he was wonderful to watch. Afterwards there was only one place to go for lunch, Caravan of Dreams. I selected from the brunch menu which came with Tea, Orange Juice and Salad. Plus I ordered a Green Juice. Lots of drinking here. The salad was very fresh and delicious.

Gary had the Falafel sandwich and he was disappointed. It seemed to be more salad than falafel.

We always love it here but today our expectations were dashed. I was excited to see Purple Potatoes on the menu in the Breakfast Burrito. I ordered it and when it arrived it had white potatoes, not purple! The server chatted with the manager about it and neither of them had a good explanation. They offered to replace it but it was tasty and I don’t like waste so I ate it.

Snack: Since it’s my birthday celebration time we walked over to Confectionery, a vegan bakery and candy store. We are eating a lot less sugary treats these days but it was fun to go inside and look around. There are lots of chocolates.

And more lovely chocolates behind the glass with cookies and cakes. All vegan!

I selected the Walnut, Chocolate Chip Cookie and Gary selected a Peanut Butter Cup and a Tahini Butter Cup. YUM!

Third Meal: We had a light evening supper of organic Celery Sticks with organic Peanut Butter and homemade organic Red Cabbage Sauerkraut.
