What Vegans Eat – Day 1808

Share

First Meal: Gary and I both had theatre auditions this morning in different locations in Manhattan. We both finished at about the same time and decided to celebrate our lives and treat ourselves to breakfast. We went to a chain restaurant we like a lot: Le Pain Quotidien. They have vegan options and some are organic. And the tea selections are pretty good. Gary ordered a new dish, the organic Winter Porridge. The Steel Cut Oats were cooked with Buckwheat, Raisins and Carrots, and served in a tiny bowl piled high with a scoop of Coconut Yoghurt, a dollop of Warm Apple Compote, and a sprinkling of House Made Granola & Toasted Buckwheat for crunch. I don’t think they could’ve fit any more ingredients in that little bowl. Gary said it was just enough.

I thought I was going to get a sweet breakfast meal but the savory flavors were calling me. I tried the new vegan Forager Bowl.

Second Meal: Tonight’s dinner combine old and new. Gary made baked Tofu with Sesame Seeds and beautiful Broccolette. We reheated yesterday’s fabulous Purple Sweet Potatoes and Millet.

Green Juice: Our green juice tonight was made with Kale, Collards, Celery, Lemon and Ginger.
