Breakfast: We enjoyed a comforting breakfast, finishing up the last of the Blueberry Peanut Butter Scones and Challah Bread with Genmaicha Tea.
Lunch: Gary had made this Tomato, Red Bean and Corn Soup a few days before but there were so many other foods around I didn’t get to enjoy it until now.
Daily Green Juice: Kale, Celery, Carrots, Ginger
Dinner: We were very excited to be heading out to Mooshoes owned by sisters Erica and Sara Kubersky in Manhattan. They generously host a lot of vegan parties in their store. This evening was the VegNews Comfort Food Shindig! We put on our party clothes and took a ride on the subway.
Here’s Gary.
When we arrived we were greeted by Erin Red.
Gary grabbed a couple of Mint Juleps for us. Let the party begin!
During the evening we enjoy small bites including Mac ‘N Cheese followed by Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup.
I got a peek of Chef Jay Astafa and his crew working in the back.
Ooh! Next I tried the mini Cheeseburger with Fries and a Vanilla Shake. Yummy!
Chef Jay Astafa came out to greet the crowd.
Thanks to Danielle Konya for the stunning Vegan Treats
My favorite was the Chocolate Covered Donut. I also tried the Cannoli, and a Nut and Seed Creamed Filled Treat. Why not?!
We saw many old friends – Martin Rowe and Mia McDonald; Diane Wenz, Miracle Worker PR‘s Anne Sullivan; Yoga teacher Siewli Stark and met new ones, like vegan doctor Michelle McMacken. What would a New York Vegan Event be without Victoria Moran?
Wow, was that vegan celebrity chef Jason Wrobel? He was chatting with Petit Vour Founders Madeline Alcott and Ryan Miler.
I’ve been surprised to see Vegetarian Society of DC Treasurer Saurabh Dalal in NYC at so many events lately but apparently his day job has brought him here.
We recognized the photographer from the Living The Farm Sanctuary Life release party at ABC Carpet and Home a few months back. Nice guy!
We headed over to the subway after the party to get back home. While waiting I got to look into the gift bags we received. Wow! We got Dandies Vegan Marshmallows;!! I can just taste the REAL S’Mores we’ll be making real soon with our easy to make gluten-free Graham Crackers.
And there were other wonderful goodies: Earth Balance Vegan Aged White Cheddar Popcorn; samples of Upton Natural’s new line of Gluten-Free Jackfruit products; cookies from the Sun Flour Baking Company and Alternative Baking Co.; Eli’s Earth Bars.
Plus I’ll be ready for winter with Hurraw Lip Balm.
Evening: Overloaded with sugar but still hungry I was happy to come home and nibble on some clean leftovers: Lentils with Onions, Sweet Potatoes, Carrot Sticks, Broccoli.
