What Vegans Eat – Day 234: Special Travel Edition

Breakfast: I made a cup of Genmaicha Tea in the hotel room. Then we took a brisk walk along the Monterey Bay. Afterwards we went to Jamba Juice for some Green Smoothies. I had the Amazing Greens with Kale, Peaches, Lemon, Bananas and Pumpkins Seeds. Wowee. It was tart and delicious!

Lunch: On our way to San Jose we stopped in Santa Cruz for lunch. We always loved the Saturn Cafe and ordered some burgers. Sadly, the restaurant isn’t as good as it used to be. I used to love the Boca Burger they served smothered in sautéed mushrooms and onions. But they don’t have that anymore. They make their own bean burger and there’s no mushroom topping option. My burger came with a big pile of vegan onion rings. It’s not often you can find vegan onion rings so I thought it would be fun to have them. Not used to eating fried foods, they made me feel horrible afterwards!

We walked around town trying to work off lunch. We stopped for tea at Verve Coffee Roasters. I ordered a Fruity Black tea and asked to have it served in a real cup. They gave us the coolest mugs that had tea baskets in them to brew the tea.

Evening: After that heavy lunch I thought I would never want to eat again! We skipped dinner and later when we visited Gary’s brother’s family we were treated to some Trader Joe’s Soy Creamy Vanilla and Cherry Chocolate Chip Ice Cream.
