Breakfast: We knew we’d be having a lovely lunch out so we kept breakfast simple. I had organic Bai Mu Dan white tea.
Lunch: Gary and I met with Judith Haskins and her sister Laura Hyman at one of our favorite places on the planet for lunch – Candle Cafe West. You may remember I interviewed Judith recently about the book, Congenital, Alterable, Transmissible, Asymmetry: The Spiritual Meaning of Disease and Science which was based on her late father’s manuscript. I was moved by many of the passages in this book. It is difficult to read, requires a lot of concentration but it is worth the effort. When we arrived the sisters had already ordered bruschetta for the table, made with artichokes and a creamy pesto.
Everyone ordered some hot tea. I got the Green Goddess with no apple. That was my green juice for the day. Gary went with one of his favorites, the Mezze Platter. It’s an appetizer that makes a filling lunch.
I got the Arugula Wild Mushroom salad. It was heavenly.
We were invited up to their apartment at the Belnord to visit with their 102-year-old mother Shirley again. They had picked up some nice vegan treats from Ozu Restaurant: pecan pie, pumpkin pie and a tofu cheesecake.
Dinner: Our cooked chick peas came together with Green Zenphony Brown Rice and Chinese Broccoli leftovers for a great dinner.
