What Vegans Eat – Day 526: Special Travel Edition

Brunch: We had a meeting in Watsonville so we had to stop at Dharma’s in Santa Cruz on the way, especially since we still had 2 Groupons left to use there. Although many dishes sounded tempting, I knew they would be too salty for me. I got the Gardener’s Salad with Tahini Dressing and it was perfect. I added a lot of Nutritional Yeast and Gomasio (roasted sesame seeds and salt) to it.

Gary was talking about getting their corn pancakes on the drive down but somehow when he got to order he went with the Breakfast Burrito and House Chai as he always does.

Daily Green Juice: After our meeting we returned to Santa Cruz to shop at Staff of Life Market. This is the best grocery store on the planet. Most of the produce is locally grown, super fresh and very reasonably priced. They have a superb selection of bulk teas, herbs and spices. Since we are still away from home, we can buy small amounts of these items and the prices are outrageously inexpensive. When we were all done grocery shopping we both got the Bruce Banner Green Juice which has Spinach, Kale, Celery, Cucumber, Lemon and Ginger; a perfect juice mix.

Dinner: It was my turn to make dinner. While the Organic California Basmati Brown Rice was cooking I made a stew with Red Onion, Tomatoes, Zucchini and Red Lentils, I made a Peanut Sauce with Peanut Butter, water and Sky Valley Sriracha sauce and mixed it with the vegetables. The ingredients were very similar to the summer stew Gary made the night before but with the peanut butter it became a completely different and delightful dish.
