READ ALL ABOUT IT! The VegNews 2015 Veggie Awards have been announced in their new November/December issue. You may remember that Responsible Eating And Living was named one of the 10 Non Profits You Need To Know back in 2011 and we are still excited about that! Responsible Eating And Living was not a winner this year per se – we were not nominated for anything this year. But we feel like a winner for a bunch of reasons!
To begin with…
Living the Farm Sanctuary Life Book of the Year
We ARE a winner! Gary De Mattei and I have 3 recipes in this award winning book.
I’ve also interviewed the authors: Gene Baur and Gene Stone.
Many other VegNews 2015 Veggie Award winners have been featured on my It’s All About Food program. I’ve listed them below.
Moby – Person of the Year
I spoke with Moby a while back when he came out with the book Gristle. Moby may be known most for his music but his life’s work is about vegan and animal-welfare activism. Listen to the interview with Moby.
Miyoko’s Creamery – Product of the Year
Miyoko Schinner has been on It’s All About Food several times. I spoke with her about her cheeses on two occasions and you can listen to both interviews here: Artisan Vegan Cheese and Miyoko’s Creamery.
The Gentle Barn – Nonprofit of the year
Ellie Laks, founder of the Gentle Barn spoke with me last year. Here’s the interview with Ellie Laks.
Kittee Berns, Teff Love – Cookbook of the Year
I was not surprised to learn about Kittee’s prize. I had a lot of fun interviewing her about her very unique cookbook. Listen to my interview with Kittee Berns.
Colleen Holland, publisher and Co-Founder of VegNews
The REAL winner is Colleen Holland, publisher and Co-Founder of VegNews. She weathered some tough times with the magazine and recently relaunched the print edition, making it more beautiful and exciting than ever. I interviewed Colleen recently and you can hear her passion, excitement and energy about the magazine and all the delicious joy around veganism here.
