First Meal: It’s my birthday! It’s Earth Day. And it’s raining. I am glad I started celebrating a couple of weeks ago because today is not a nice day to walk around Manhattan. Instead, Gary and I got in the car and drove to my mom’s. I needed to park the car at her place because we;ll be going to California soon. We stopped at Plant-Wise to pick up lunch. We sipped on Green Juices while we waited for our takeout lunch.
I ordered the 1/2 soup, 1/2 salad Combo with a Not Just Garnish Salad (Kale, Parsley, Quinoa, Red Pepper, Cranberries, Hemp
Hearts, Avocado Vinaigrette.) and the Masala Bowl (Chickpea Masala, Tomato, Falafels,
Sunflower Tahini).
Gary had the Hummus & Falafel Wrap (Homemade Hummus, Baked Falafels, Arugula, Tomato, Sunflower Tahini. I ordered an Egg Wise Wrap for mom (Roasted Tofu in Dijon Maple Glaze, Roasted Tomatoes, Avocado Mash, Quinoa, Sunflower Dressing). I knew she’d love it and she did.
It’s a tradition in our family, as with many others to blow out a candle on one’s birthday. It doesn’t matter what the candle is sitting in – it can be cake, or fruit or even a veggie burger! But the Happy Birthday song must be sung, the wish must be made and the candle blown. Gary and I decided to share a So Delicious Dairy Free No Sugar Added Dipped Vanilla sweetened with Erythritol. I dug out a hole to stick in a Chanukah candle. The tradition was satisfied.
Second Meal: We made it back home on the train and through the rain. When we dried off, Gary made a feast: Tempeh in Marinara; Grilled Eggplant, Bell Peppers and Onions; Purple and Yellow Sweet Potatoes; and a big Green Salad.
I piled up my plate and topped it with dollop of Almond Ricotta.
Dessert: For my birthday dessert I had some Chocolate Chip Mint Almond Ice Cream.
